Stranded on an Island!
7 men are stranded on an island. They gather up all the coconuts and divide them into 7 equal piles, but discard one extra one. Then they bury them all together in one hole. That night one of the guys decides to take out his share and bury it somewhere else. He takes out his 1/7 share then divides the remaining coconuts into 7 piles, and reburies the pile. Later the second guy wakes up, and repeats the same steps taking his 1/7 share away, and reburies the rest. This process continues all night until each man has secreted his share away and reburied the pile . The question is … what is the smallest number of coconuts that they could have started with?

dybo, you clever guy i thought the same thing within the first few sentences. this is the second time i’ve found a riddle that i completely with you
thats a lotta coconuts…
Wait, wouldn’t the answer be 50? Drop one, so 49. Each guy gets seven (7*7=49), then burys his in seven piles. So…one coconut per hole, one extra, 50.
