Balloon Business

You’re sitting in a stationary car. There’s a helium balloon tied to its floor (see picture). You accelerate and, obviously feel like you’re being pushed backwards (against the direction of your acceleration). Which way will the balloon move?

Agree with the other commenters. The solution is correct, but not so sure about the explanation. My understanding is that as you accelerate, both the balloon and the air in the car are subject to the same force (towards the front of the car). However, as the air is more dense and has more inertia (the balloon is floating), it will tend to move towards the back of the car more quickly, creating a low pressure area in the front of the car, which pulls the balloon forward.
