Cold Tragedy

A man was on an expedition to reach the summit of the largest mountain in the world. When he reached the top (the first person to ever successfully climb this mountain, I might add), he notices a cabin there. He opens the door, and to his confusion there isn’t a living person to be found.

Now, if he is the first person to successfully climb this mountain, how is it that there is a cabin already up there?
